Early Days:

Jan Has Been Teaching "Forever"!

During her seven years of high school and university, Jan honed her skills. Working every Saturday, she marveled at the opportunities to learn and to teach at a great fabric store called Contempo Fabrics, then located on Portage at St James Street.

In the mid to late 1960’s, sewists saw the introduction of knit fabrics to the home sewing market. A new world came into view for so many with different sewing skills to master. For Jan, it was perfect timing!

A Lifetime of

Design, Travel, and Teaching

From 1994 to 2014, Jan developed her own line of sewing patterns called ‘Lingerie Secrets’.

In those years, she was also continuously traveling across North America, teaching as an enthusiastic guest speaker at many workshops. This was a golden time for Jan, visiting many parts of North America, make new lifelong friends and thriving in classrooms and workshops. Teaching the creation of beautiful and functional lingerie was then, and still is, an inspiring part of life.

Since 2009 and to the current day, Jan has enjoyed offering the evening Apparel Design Courses she has developed at Red River College.
