Ready to take your sewing skills to the next level? Junior Sew-ciology 2 is designed for young sewists who have completed Junior Sew-ciology 1 or have some previous sewing machine experience.

In this hands-on class, students will refresh their sewing machine skills while learning new techniques in both machine and hand sewing. Through two fun projects—a small zipper bag and a pair of pajama pants—students will build confidence, creativity, patience, and eye-hand coordination while learning valuable sewing skills they can use for future projects.

What Students Will Learn
Hand Sewing & Visible Mending

Students will be introduced to hand sewing and visible mending techniques, including:

Threading a needle
Running stitch
Ladder stitch
Blanket stitch
Whip stitch

Zippers & Small Zipper Bag

Students will learn how to work with zippers and put their new skills into practice by creating a small zipper bag.

Pajama Pants Project

Students will learn the fundamentals of making a garment, including:

Reading a commercial sewing pattern
Taking body measurements to determine sizing
Understanding the importance of pre-washing fabric
Laying out pattern pieces
Cutting fabric 
Sewing and constructing a garment
Applying skills learned in Junior Sew-ciology 1

Prerequisite

Students must have completed Junior Sew-ciology 1 or have equivalent sewing machine experience.
