Learn to Quilt: LEVEL 2 - Double Square Quilt *FALL 2024 TBA*
Taught by Maggie McDonnell
Star quilts are some of the oldest patterns documented as early as the 18th Century. They involve lots of pieces to create their spectacular shape.
Participants will learn to create star legs which are then added to squares. Each step adds to the process of assembling the star. Be prepared to do lots of sewing as you assemble the many parts. Managing the many pieces will add to your repertoire of skills. In the end, you will have a beautiful star quilt top to call your own. Participants will finish the top of this lovely quilt over this weekend series of classes. The final class will address how to “complete the quilt as desired” through demonstration and practice on small samples.
Prerequisite skills: Participants must have a good understanding of use of the sewing machine; threading, winding bobbins and maintaining straight seams. Experience in cutting with a rotary cutter, pressing and nesting seams, adding borders or completion of the Level 1 class is required.
