Taught by Gillian McDonnell

Learn how to alter clothing, like they do for the movies! This class will go over 'Basic' alterations, which in the film industry costumers do regularly.

Please bring a pair of straight legged jeans & a long sleeved button up shirt for practice.

  • Small class sizes: 6 students 
  • Class length: 2 x 3 hours classes = 6hrs
  • Previous sewing experience required 

 This class is for ages 17yrs & Up 

Date & Time: Sunday's March 22nd & 29th @ 1-4pm

Option for Just Pant Alterations on March 22nd!

These different types of 'Basic' alterations will be completed hand on:

  •  Hemming pants & the many different ways to do so 
    • Hollywood hem, cuffed hem, hand-stitching (Catch Stitch Method) & Blind Stitch hem, etc.
  • Taking in Pants at waist
    • Dress pants & Jeans
  • Hemming shirt sleeves (with cuffs)
    • Rental style vs. Permanent style
  • Hemming/lengthing cuffs on suit jackets

Sewing on Flashes; this will be demonstrated & then hands on.

Other Alterations that will be demonstrated:

  • Tapering (quick tailoring) Pants
  • Tapering (quick tailoring) Shirts (side seams & sleeves)
Learn in a relaxed environment where all things necessary to sew are in studio. The classroom is fully equipped with sewing machines and all the tools and notions you need to complete your project. 
Small classes mean more time with your instructor. There is a watercooler and washroom for your convenience. No food or drinks are allowed in the classroom.
Please bring slippers or indoor shoes for the classroom.
